Released, Eternals Breaks Marvel Movie Record on Disney+

Eternals officially released on the Disney+ streaming service on January 12 yesterday. In its release, the film directed by Chloe Zhao was immediately attracted by users, and was even named the biggest premiere of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film on Disney+.

This achievement is certainly not without reason. The reason is, there are still many Marvel fans who haven't watched Eternals in theaters due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases. Eternals was immediately greeted enthusiastically when it was finally released on Disney+.

Successfully watched by 2 million users in 5 days
Although Eternals was shown in cinemas around the world, it seems that not a few fans are looking forward to the film being released on Disney+. Reported by The Direct, Eternals was able to collect 2 million viewers in its first five days of broadcast based on data collected by SambaTV.

This figure managed to beat the record previously held by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings with 1.8 million viewers. That way, Eternals is officially lined up as the MCU film with the biggest debut on the Disney+  streaming service.

Eternals' success is beyond Marvel's expectations
When it was first released in theaters in November 2021, Eternals didn't actually show the success that Marvel Studios had hoped for. Apart from being due to the pandemic, this film was also considered less attractive by the audience so that it received a negative response from critics and fans.

Thanks to that reason, some fans lost interest in seeing Eternals in theaters. However, the viewership figures reported by SambaTV recently seem to have turned the tide. Marvel Studios is also pleased with Eternals , who broke the MCU film debut record on Disney+.

Only scored 48 percent on Rotten Tomatoes
A few days after its premiere, Eternals received quite a lot of positive reviews from critics and received a score of 75 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Since then, however, Eternals ' score has gradually fallen to 53 percent thanks to a barrage of negative reviews. Most recently, the film received a score of 48 percent on the film's review site.

Those numbers make Eternals the worst MCU film based on scores on Rotten Tomatoes . Previously, MCU films had a perfect track record on Rotten Tomatoes with an average score of 85 percent. However, even though Eternals scored low, some fans found the film quite interesting.

Potential for global success
While the Eternals project was in development and production, the studio and fans alike were very confident that the film would be a huge success. How not, Marvel has appointed the best people in their fields to work on the project.

Call it the Oscar-winning director, Chloe Zhao, who is trusted to direct this film. In addition, there are also several famous Hollywood actors who star in this film, such as Richard Madden, Angelina Jolie, Gemma Chan, Kumail Nanjiani and many more.

Eternals is considered fun by some fans
Despite the sheer number of criticisms of Eternals , some viewers remained enthusiastic about the film. Especially for loyal Marvel fans, Eternals is considered exciting because it is the beginning of the continuation of the characters in the next MCU film.

Fans are hopeful that the Eternals characters will appear in future Marvel projects. Marvel Studios itself seems to be preparing a continuation of the Eternals story .

This is evidenced by the post-credits scene where Starfox (Harry Styles) appears to help the Eternals members who are in trouble for disobeying Arishem.

It is undeniable, even though Eternals received a poor rating from critics, the film managed to amaze fans thanks to the quality of the cinematography and the acting of the stars. So, what's your personal opinion on Eternals ?
